PRODUCT OVERVIEW

With Stream, international suppliers submit their invoices online and American Express employees approve them online. The new tool reduces paper, speeds up approvals, and increases visibility. Key supplier features:

  • Upload Invoice: Submitting an invoice is easy. Simply enter your email address, your Amex contact’s email address, and upload your invoice. After you submit an invoice, American Express Payments Operations will review the submission and send it to your American Express contact for approval.
  • Receive Notifications: American Express will send you updates throughout the process. You'll receive a real-time status each time we receive an invoice and when it’s been approved for payment.
  • Get Paid: Automated invoice delivery to Accounts Payable and your business contact minimizes delays, resulting in a quicker approval process.

PERFORMANCE

User benefits:

  • Previously an 8 month process, uploading invoices digitally cut the lifecycle of submission, approval, and payment down to less than 30 days

  • Stream’s early payment feature, which allows suppliers to get paid early in an exchange for a discount, resonated with cash rich companies in their infancy with cash flow challenges

Commercial outcomes:

  • The product, released in a single foreign market in 2016, quickly resulted in high adoption rates and positive feedback – the American Express Global Business Services team continues to introduce the product into new markets each year

  • The total number of of invoices submitted to American Express increased in all four markets where Stream is available

  • Adoption continues to grow – MOM more suppliers are taking advantage of Stream early payment feature

  • After accepting their first Stream early payment offer, most suppliers have become repeat users of Stream
